Dr. Pausas, a renowned fire ecologist from the Centro de Investigaciones sobre Desertificación, Valencia, España, was invited by DiverSus to visit the IMBIV. As part of his visit he gave a conference entitled “Fire: disaster or biodiversity?”, which was attended by many researchers and students from the IMBIV and other institutions. After the conference Dr. Pausas and some members of DiverSus shared a fruitful workshop, with the main objective of sharing some questions and ideas arised from P. Jaureguiberry’s PhD research on fire ecology of dominant species of the Dry Chaco, and more specifically discussing evolutionary aspects of plant fire syndromes.
